Final Post

I would say the three most important things I learned this semester were the general information I got about important political/moral events in the computer science realm, learned a lot about the ownership of code in the professional world, and learned to care a whole lot less about public speaking. My advice to the next semester is just go to class regularly.

Final Topic Presentations

I am most excited to hear about the surveillance topics. I think those will be interesting and it is always nice to know more about how you are being tracked.

Citizen Four

One of the things I found most interesting was that Snowden is not completely renowned as a hero. I understand that there were secrets shared but they were secrets of how the US population was unknowingly having their every move monitored online. Based on the documentary he went through the steps to ensure he was going about the situation in the safest but most effective manner possible. In my eyes the weight of the information outweighs the potential safety risks.

Bees and More Bees

I thought it was really interesting to learn about the science parts involving the technology and bees, I did not know the distinctions between different types of honey, and I learned about the prevalence of bee colony robberies.

Ethics Discussion

I thought it was interesting that most people emphasized their sibling relationships a lot. I think my sibling relationships greatly affected my ethics but so did other things. I put a lot of emphasis on personal thinking and choices affecting my ethics.

Introduction

My best in class computing experience was the Systems 1 Y-86 simulator. That was by far the most challenging and rewarding in class experience. Outside of class I have not done much besides small self paced projects you can find online and practice problems on various sites.
